02.01 Legal Systems of the World
- know the main legal systems of the world and are able to explain how they differ in the way law is made and found;
- understand what a mixed legal system is and why most countries have one;
- are able to identify the legal system of their own country and explain what it means for doing business there.
02.02–02.04 Switzerland, European Union, United States
- know the institutions of the three systems and understand how laws are made in each of them;
- understand why federal systems have two chambers of parliament and how small member states are protected;
- understand the difference between a state, a federal state and a supranational organisation;
- are able to explain where private law is made in each system (federal or state level) and why this matters for business;
- understand who reviews the constitutionality of laws in each system and why the answers differ.
